I am so proud of you Ann. I always was though, but even more so now. It's completely amazing to see someone you care about grow when it seemed that there wasn't room for any more growth. It could seem like you've made the best out of a bad situation, but that's not the case at all. You've been brave enough to create a BETTER situation, a healthier situation, a situation in which you have set the path and opened the door to grow by leaps and bounds, not only realize what's important but to give those things the recognition they deserve - weather that be your own growth, giggling with the kids at the dinner table and being where you are, taking risks and not living in fear of what happens if things don't go according to "the plan," REALLY learning to live for today, and being proactive about doing what it takes to love and respect yourself as much as possible. I am proud of you and love you my friend.

Here is one thing that works vs "I can't" -- Instead, for me, "I don't know how yet...." Forces me to stay open to whatever teaching might show up -- or maybe just open to listening to what I actually do know already. eg how to paint a room (which you would have to ask my husband about to fully understand why it's a hysterical example for me too.)

I am not a fan of women speakers. I try, but I just do not enjoy listening to women speak in a large-scale setting. The voice, the facial expressions, bleck. I just don't like it. Oh, did I mention that already?

BUT, I really enjoyed your speaking this weekend. And not just because it was you and I know and like you, because frankly, I was prepared to not like it...because I don't like women speakers. Oh yeah, I mentioned that.

I can totally relate. In fact I was just thinking about this subject this morning. We are moving in about 10 days, Rob is completely slammed at his work, I'm super busy with my work...the list goes on and on. When I get overwhelmed, my coping mechanism is to retreat. I stop hanging out with friends, I stop going to the gym, I stop talking to God. Glad (kind of) to know that I'm not the only one. I'll pray that both of us can get into a better groove.
